Movies at Sundown: SM Cinema give their patrons an old-school treat of watching their must-see films on the big screen

This pandemic really did a number on all of the people. New ways have been adopted in order to cope up with these ever-changing times, so it is no surprise that businesses have started to innovate and apply new ways in delivering the services they are offering, too. One of the many things that people seem to miss is most probably going to cinemas and watching their most awaited films on a big screen.

And so, while movie theaters are yet to open, SM Cinema have taken a big leap as they give their patrons an old-school and at the same time new opportunity to do what they love again with their Drive-in: Movies at Sundown. This out-of-home entertainment experience is undeniably a nice throwback to the golden years of drive-in theaters.

This old yet new drive-in cinema by SM Cinema aims to give people what they want in a safe and enjoyable way. The Movies at Sundown can be experienced at SM City Pampanga Ampitheater, allowing their guests to watch a movie on the big screen again, this time in the comfort of their own car, all the while observing social distancing rules and regulations set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

Being this is actually the first in the Philippines, guests of the Movies at Sundown will be able to see the film of their choice on a 20m x 8m screen raised three feet above the ground and will be asked to tune in to a specific frequency on their car’s FM radio that will be the one to broadcast the audio of the film straight into their vehicles, once they have been settled and assigned on their own parking spots as guided by traffic marshalls.

Here are a few guidelines when watching at The Movies at Sundown:

  • Guests can choose time slots as future viewing schedules will be up every Thursday to Sundays at 6:45PM.
  • A Ticket Price of Php 400 per person is billed to the guest in order to enjoy this cinematic experience that comes with a free regular popcorn, bottled water, and Beef Franks from SnackTime already. Also, tickets must be purchased online in advance at SMTickets.com to ensure uninterrupted viewing experience as there will be no tickets sold at the venue and viewers are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes before their scheduled choice of screening time.
  • Two people can be inside the car, but a maximum of only four guests are allowed, considering the guests are between ages 21 to 59, wearing their masks on, and practicing social distancing all throughout the duration of the movie.
